Melanie has been active in the Michigan equine community as a rider, instructor and business consultant since 1989. Over the years she has worked with countless horses, ranging from off the track racehorses to high level Dressage horses and everything in between. She has spent many years developing her skills as both a rider and a trainer, working with some of the area's top equine professionals. Melanie is presently teaching and training under Janelle Deisig who is helping her continue to refine her skills as both a rider and coach.
Melanie has trained with Will Davis, Carolyn VanCise, Judy Kelly, Maryal Barnett, Gerhard Politz, and Sue Thome. Additional education has been gained thru auditing the L Graduate Program, attending Black Forest Hall and auditing varius clinicians including Caesar Parra, Lendon Gray and Gerhard Politz.
Melanie's experience also includes: Current Show Secretary for MidMichigan Dressage Schooling Show, Instructor at Willow Pond Stables, Barn Manager for MeadowRidge Farm under owners Sally and Tom Ginter, Assistant Manager MeadowRidge Farm under Bill and Tina Long, serving as a MidWest Dressage Association board member, Midland County Junior Fairboard board member, Midland County Fair Horse Superintendent, horse show announcing, horse show judge and serving as ring steward and scribe to dressage recognized and schooling shows.
Melanie's students ride and show at various levels in many different disciplines, including Dressage, Hunter/Jumper and even Hunt Seat. Her goal as an instructor is to provide students with a solid foundation that will allow them to pursue the riding discipline of their choice whether it be competitively or for pleasure only. Melanie's teaching philosophy is safety first, followed by good overall horsemanship and love for riding.
Melanie continues to pursue her own professional riding career. She believes that a rider is never truly "finished" and is dedicated to continually improving her own skills in order to provide the best possible service to her students and horses.
